Traditionally Hydropro has always made customer needs at the forefront of its business. In doing so, always Hydropro has been aware of the latest advances in technology in the field of water treatment. In this case, mainly due to the remote location (nearly everything, including fuel for diesel generators, is delivered by ship), the needs of major customers were associated with conserving energy and maintain reliability. Availability spare parts was also a major concern due to the remote location and lead time required to deliver items to the island. Another concern Hydropro had to address was the ease of operation and ease of maintenance, as the remote island of RO Ebye had no qualified plant operators. The end result would incorporate all these requirements to produce a reliable supply of drinking water from a source of seawater for Ebye citizens.
The application original proposal, 75,000 units requested Kajura double gpd reverse osmosis system (expandable to 100,000 gpd) designed for a seawater supply of 45,000 mg / L of TDS. The proposal was submitted by Hydropro two sea water reverse osmosis water treatment units each designed to produce 75,000 gallons per day. Water Permeate is expected to be less than 300 mg / l of TDS on the basis of water supply wells seawater with a TDS up to 50,000 mg / l, and an SDI of less 3. Each unit was designed to be easily extended to a daily capacity of 100,000 gallons by the addition of a pressure vessel containing seven membrane water sea. All instrumentation, piping, valves, pumps were headed and pre-designed to accommodate the expansion.
Each SWRO proposal consisted of four pressure vessels containing seven membrane elements each arranged in a single array in one pass. With the expansion, the system would consist of five pressure vessels in a single scene. Each system was designed to operate at 30-40% recovery rate with a maximum of trans-membrane (feed and product) of 1100 psi pressure in a feed water TDS of 50,000 mg / l. With a feed water TDS of 46,000 mg / l, transmembrane pressure is expected to be approximately 900 psi at startup and 950 psi after three years of operation.
System Design
The final installed Hydropro 100,000 gpd design consisted of the following main components and operations of the unit for each unit of reverse osmosis:
• The sand and particulate filters, two filter units Hydropro Tubular STF5M2-400-PVC/150 model each composed of a PVC housing with a display of 150-micron wedge wire PVC for the extraction of sand and dust, with automatic drain valves
• Micron Filters: Three heavy duty filter housing built of FRP / PVC and built to ASME code X, Eden Model homes are 24EFC each with a capacity of six (6) 40 "long five cartridges micron polypropylene
• RO High Pressure Pumps Elevators: Two feed pumps high pressure booster Grundfos Model BM 17-27R (installed in the series) – horizontal centrifugal, multi-stage Construction Super austenitic stainless steel 904L, each led by a 35 HP submersible motor nominal rate of 460V/60Hz/3Ø using a soft start motor starter VFD and low pressure RO booster pump: A booster pump Grundfos Model BM 30-4R – horizontal centrifugal, multi-stage type of stainless steel 904L Super Austenitic driven by a motor of 7.5 HP submersible type rated 460V/60Hz/3Ø controlled by a frequency inverter
• Membrane modules: A framework for building of PRF, five pressure vessels of FRP construction rated at 1200 psi operating pressure, 35 elements of thin film composite membrane ¬ 8 "x 40 ", Duplex 2205 SS headers and feed concentrates and Sch. 80 PVC headers permeate and feed, low pressure suction pipes and focus, PLC Allen-Bradley SLC 5 / 04 based control system – installed in NEMA 4X box with switches, etc. light system installed on the panel door
• Systems Food Chemistry: An anti-scalant dosing system and a chlorine dosing system
• Freshwater Flush / membrane cleaning system
The drive system has been designed and manufactured for installation compact size due to limited space and to permit shipping both in units of a single container.
The whole system is pre-assembled as much as possible to minimize field service.
